What happened on BBC One before Wolves vs Liverpool?

The pre-match coverage of the FA Cup third-round replay between Wolves and Liverpool on Tuesday night was interrupted by an unexpected sound. As presenter Gary Lineker was about to introduce co-commentator Alan Shearer, bawdy moans and groans squealed out from somewhere inside the studio.

How the pundits reacted at the time

Lineker, along with Paul Ince and Danny Murphy in the studio, found the situation amusing and were unable to contain their laughter. Murphy even attempted to analyze the game while the noise persisted.

How everybody reacted on Twitter

The prank generated a lot of attention on social media, specifically on Twitter, as it became a hot topic with the top eight trending hashtags on the platform in the United Kingdom on Tuesday night, all referencing the pre-match coverage of the match held at Molineux Stadium.

Who’s taken responsibility?

The prank was later revealed to be the work of YouTuber Daniel Jarvis, also known as ‘Jarvo’. He confirmed it was his doing in a tweet and showed how he set up the prank. Jarvis has gained some notoriety in recent years for his habit of crashing major sporting events, but his antics have also gotten him into trouble.

He was convicted of aggravated trespass last October and was given a suspended prison sentence. He is also banned from attending any venue where a sporting fixture is being held in England and Wales for two years.
