Sarawak’s Premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg, expressed his desire for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to collaborate with the East Malaysian state governments to drive the nation forward. He believes that Anwar’s past experience in the federal government, as well as his clear direction, will enable Malaysia to excel on a global scale.
During a state banquet held in Anwar’s honor, Abang Johari stated, “I believe the Prime Minister, with his vast experience, will be able to bring Malaysia to be a country respected by other nations.” He also emphasized that Sarawak will support any matters that are in the best interest of the public.
The Premier reassured Anwar that Sarawak and Sabah’s request for the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) is only to restore what was lost in the past. “That is all. Not much. And I am sure the Prime Minister has made a number of announcements before, but tomorrow, hopefully, more will be added,” he said.
Abang Johari reiterated Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s support for Anwar to remain as Prime Minister for the sake of political stability and the economy.
