Juventus Secures Coppa Italia Victory Against Monza in Coppa Italia

Juventus Secures 2-1 Victory over Monza in Coppa Italia, Secures Spot in Quarter-final Round

Juventus secured a 2-1 victory over Monza in the Coppa Italia on Thursday, setting up a quarter-final showdown with Lazio.

Moise Kean got the ball rolling early, heading in the first goal in the 8th minute from a well-timed cross by Weston Mckennie. However, Monza’s Mattia Valoti equalized in the 24th minute with a header from a corner. Despite this setback, Juventus pressed on and were able to secure the win.

In the 76th minute, Kean thought he had put Juventus ahead again, but his shot was ruled offside. Two minutes later, substitute Federico Chiesa sealed the deal with a goal, putting the ball into the far right post. Monza tried to mount a comeback, but the Juventus defense held strong.

After the match, Juventus assistant manager Marco Landucci said, “It is just a pity we conceded a goal on a corner where we should’ve been more careful, but the important thing was to get through to the next round.” He added that the team was pleased with the performance of the young players and the importance of the Coppa Italia to the club.

The Coppa Italia quarterfinal match-ups are as follows:

  • Inter vs. Atalanta on January 31st
  • Fiorentina vs. Torino on February 1st
  • Roma vs. Cremonese on February 1st
  • Juventus vs. Lazio on February 2nd
