On Tuesday evening, a Bangladeshi boy was found in a container at a wharf in Westports, Port Klang. The Klang Selatan district police chief, Cha Hoong Fong, stated that the boy was found in a weak state by a worker at the wharf at around 9pm. The boy, believed to be from Chittagong, was taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang and is reported to be in stable condition.
An investigation revealed that the MV Integra ship had departed from Chittagong on January 12th and arrived at Westports on Tuesday. The boy stated to authorities that he had been playing in a container with friends in Chittagong, but found himself locked inside. The case has been referred to the immigration department for the boy to be sent home on the same cargo ship.
The Klang Selatan District Police chief stressed that there were no elements of foul play in the incident and urged the public not to make any speculations about the case. The boy will be processed and repatriated by the Immigration Department on the same cargo vessel.
