Burnley vs West Brom: 2-1 Late Free-Kick Secures Comeback Win

Burnley vs West Brom: How the Clarets Secured a Comeback Win at Turf Moor

Burnley secured a 2-1 comeback win against West Brom at Turf Moor, moving closer to a return to the Premier League. The Baggies took an early lead through Darnell Furlong’s header, but Burnley hit back in the second half with goals from Nathan Tella and Scott Twine. With the victory, Burnley are now 19 points clear of third place, while West Brom sit in sixth.

Burnley manager, Vincent Kompany, had previously stated that West Brom would provide his side with their toughest game of the season. The prediction proved true as the Baggies took the lead in the seventh minute through Furlong’s header from a corner. West Brom kept Burnley at bay in the first half, causing problems on the counter-attack.

Despite their struggles, Burnley managed to level the score in the 75th minute with a powerful finish from Tella. In the 88th minute, Twine scored the winning goal for Burnley with a stunning free-kick, securing his first goal for the club.

Kompany was pleased with the performance and recognized the difficulty of the match, stating “I saw in West Brom maybe the best team in the league. I felt it was such a tricky game, they were on such a good run and I thought they had a lot of tools to hurt us.” He also praised Twine for his winning goal, saying “For Twiney, it is a penalty. He’s scored so many of those.”
